CAN A WINDSCREEN CHIP OR CRACK
BE REPAIRED?
Small chips and minor cracks can often be repaired when caught early. Whether a repair is possible depends on the type, size and position of the damage.
Damage generally needs to be at least 5 cm from the edge of the windscreen. Stricter size limits also apply within the critical vision area directly in front of the driver.
A technician will inspect the damage and confirm whether repair or replacement is the safer option.
How Chip & CRACK Repair Works
Our technician begins by cleaning the damaged area and positioning a specialist repair device over it. A vacuum removes trapped air before specially formulated resin is injected throughout the chip or crack.
The resin is then cured using UV light. Once it has hardened, the windscreen is cleaned and polished to remove excess resin and produce a smooth finish.
Many minor repairs can be completed in around 30 minutes.
